Thieves Steal C7 Corvette Z06 From Detroit Dealership

Another brazen heist caught on camera…

It seems like almost every day there’s another car theft at a dealership, like this black C7 Corvette Z06 getting swiped from a Detroit dealer’s garage. According to police, the criminals arrived at the dealership located in the area of I-96 and Hubbell at 12:22 am on June 11. They were driving a 2014 Buick Lacrosse with both the front and rear bumpers missing.

A woman recently had two C7 Corvette Z06s stolen from a secured garage, back to back. Learn the details here.

While the surveillance video shows the thieves inside the dealership garage as they get the C7 Corvette Z06 started, what it doesn’t show is how they got inside. Police say after they pulled the Z06 out of the garage, the criminals got a Chevy Silverado on the lot started, then used the pickup truck as a battering ram to punch through a locked security gate so they could make their getaway.

Not only did these guys get the Corvette, they also took the Silverado and a safe. You can see in the video one of the thieves practically running with the safe as another guy is trying to reverse the C7 Z06 out of the garage, a maneuver which seems difficult for him to perform as he almost rolled over his safe-toting buddy. That safe contained “thousands of dollars” according to a local report, not keys to cars. We’re guessing the thieves needed more time to crack it, so they took it along to work on at their leisure.

Sadly, in the crime wave which has bee sweeping the nation, car dealerships have become pretty common targets. Some of the dealership heists have been incredibly sophisticated, suggesting these crimes are well-researched and highly coordinated.

The dealership is offering a $20,000 reward in connection with this crime. If you have information about these thieves or the items they stole, contact the Detroit Police Department’s Second Precinct at 313-296-5240 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up.
