Artist Seeks To Improve The Modern Camaro

Is this any better?

With perpetual lockdowns and all kinds of automotive events cancelled lately, one of the few remaining forms of entertainment left for gearheads is critiquing car renderings posted on Instagram. If you haven’t run across the account carfrontswaps, it’s an interesting array of sometimes sickly Frankenstein renderings, like the Lamborghini Countach wearing an 80s Honda Prelude front fascia.

Anyway, we thought this rendering of a modern Chevrolet Camaro was interesting for a number of reasons. First is the most obvious: most people find the current design to be a little… off-putting. We know, several of you were just offended and are fleeing to the nearest Camaro forum for validation of your viewpoints. However, it’s one of the reasons why the Camaro is at the bottom of muscle car sales in North America, a hard fact for GM fans but something that’s necessary to face.

Speaking of face, that brings us to the next interesting point about this rendering: it wears a French front fascia. To be more specific, the artist took the front of the Peugeot 508 and slapped it on the Camaro. That’s funny because the two cars are so very different, yet the mix of designs in some ways works better than what you see on the production Camaro.

What makes this choice even more interesting is the fact Fiat Chrysler is entering an alliance with Peugeot. We don’t think we’ll see any design mashups like this for the Dodge muscle cars, but who knows? It might be a foretelling of a future Challenger model or some such thing.

We’re totally joking, Mopar fans. We’re sure nothing Frenchie will ever be used in the Dodge lineup, but we’re not so sure about Jeep since it’s really embraced the Italians so warmly.

Tell us what you think about this Camaro rendering and the Fiat Chrysler partnership with Peugeot.
