The inaugural Nashville auction is scheduled for Sept. 23-26 and will feature cars and racing artifacts connected to Jack Roush, one of the most influential names in American motorsports and performance engineering. The collection arrives as Roush Industries marks its 50th anniversary.

Roush, who recently turned 84, built a reputation over decades as a race team owner, engine builder, engineer and performance specialist. His career began with a fascination for mechanics at a young age before eventually leading him into professional drag racing and later sports car competition. He achieved success across multiple racing organizations before transitioning into NASCAR, where his teams became a major force beginning in the late 1980s.

Beyond racing, Roush also became closely linked with Ford performance development after beginning work with the automaker in the 1960s. That relationship continues today through several business ventures, including Roush Performance and Roush-Yates Engines.

Vehicles from the Roush Automotive Collection have been gathered, restored and preserved over nearly four decades. Several standout examples are already confirmed for the Nashville sale.

Among the featured vehicles is a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback powered by a 460-cubic-inch Pro Stock V-8 engine built by Roush. The car is regarded as one of the most significant vehicles in the collection.

Another highlight is the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra IMSA race car known as “Nobody’s Fool.” The car earned a class victory and third-place overall finish at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and was driven by a lineup that included Mark Martin, Tommy Kendall, Mike Brockman and actor Paul Newman.

A 1997 Mustang Cobra Trans-Am racer is also expected to draw attention after recording 11 consecutive victories on the way to an SCCA championship season for Kendall and Roush Racing.

Additional vehicles listed for the auction include NASCAR trucks and stock cars associated with drivers such as Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle. One of Biffle’s former race cars will be sold with proceeds benefiting the Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund following the December plane crash that claimed the lives of Biffle, several family members and others in North Carolina.

Mecum’s Nashville event will also feature a separate collection from Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage, another well-known name in motorsports circles.
