Manhattan Gunmen Steal 4 Luxury Rides

This trend is surging out of control…

In certain cities in North America, car theft has become common, just like the high-profile incident which went down in Manhattan lately. In what a local news station described as a “brazen” robbery, several men brandished firearms while taking 4 luxury vehicles from a parking garage in the trendy neighborhood of Tribeca, shocking many. That’s right, crime isn’t just contained to the less-affluent areas, because after practicing swiping Hyundais and Hellcats, the thieves decide to lick that brass ring for a change.

See how fast a Jaguar was going before it hit a cow here.

Interestingly enough, these thieves decided to strike at 4 am on October 6. They must have chosen such an early hour for a reason, maybe in part because security was lax consistently at that time or because there would be a lack of witnesses in the wee hours of the morning.

There is a clue for the time of the crime in how these guys took the luxury cars. Instead of holding the owners at gunpoint, one of the suspects reportedly held a parking attendant at gunpoint while his accomplices just opened up empty vehicles and started them right up because the keys were left inside.

That might sound outrageous, but we’ve seen this trend going on for a while now. With keyless ignitions, many drivers get lazy and just leave their key in the cupholder, so the doors stay unlocked and anyone can fire up the engine with zero effort. Yes, it’s like we’re living in Idiocracy.

According to the local news report, the 4 luxury vehicles stolen were a Range Rover, BMW X5, and two Audi sedans. We know Audis are particularly difficult to steal unless someone leaves a key inside, so that’s unfortunate. This is just a good reminder to take your keys with you and lock the doors on your vehicle, even if it’s parked in a secure facility.
