This One-Owner 2016 Porsche 911 R Has 4,700 Miles and a Bid Past $555,000

A remarkably fresh 2016 Porsche 911 R has surfaced for sale on Bring a Trailer, and bidding has already climbed past $555,555 with about a week left on the clock. Number 519 of just 991 examples built, this particular car has been driven only 4,700 miles since new and has never left the hands of its original owner, according to the auction listing.

The 911 R was Porsche's love letter to purists. Built on the 991-generation GT3 RS platform, it borrowed that car's 4.0-liter flat-six, adjustable suspension, rear-axle steering, and carbon-ceramic brakes, then stripped away the fixed wing, aggressive aero, and roll cage in favor of a lighter, more understated package. Most notably, Porsche paired it exclusively with a six-speed manual and a mechanical limited-slip differential, at a time when the GT3 RS could only be had with a PDK dual-clutch transmission. Wide, low-slung stripes over the hood and roof, a styling cue borrowed from the 1967 911 R and 1973 Carrera RS, make the model instantly recognizable.
