Plenty of cars at auction are interesting because of what has been done to them. This 2023 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder is interesting because of what Porsche did at the factory: a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six, a six-speed manual, and a Paint to Sample shade called Gold Bronze Metallic. It is live on Cars & Bids with a bid of $130,000 as of Wednesday, and the auction is scheduled to end Tuesday, October 27, at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
The Spyder Recipe
When Porsche introduced the 718 Spyder alongside the Cayman GT4 for 2020, it described the pair as sharing the new 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, rated at 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque, with a six-speed manual and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Porsche quoted a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a launch price of $96,300. The Spyder's own touch was a lightweight, manually operated fabric top, and the front axle and brakes came from the 911 GT3.
That is a very different proposition from a standard Boxster, and the manual-only layout means there is no PDK car to compare it with. The recipe is also the reason these Spyders have stayed in demand: engine, gearbox, and a roof you fold by hand.
A Color Porsche Stopped Offering
The paint is what separates this car from the usual silver and black. The listing describes it as Paint to Sample Gold Bronze Metallic, over a black soft top and a black interior. Stuttcars’ tracking of Porsche’s Paint to Sample list shows Gold Bronze Metallic among the colors removed in a March 2023 update covering the 911 and 718, which suggests a 2023 car is near the end of the line for the shade.
The seller reports 4,100 miles and a clean Carfax. The equipment list is a short one: 20-inch wheels in Satin Platinum, LED headlights with PDLS+, carbon fiber interior trim, leather and Race-Tex upholstery, heated seats, and a Burmester sound system. A window sticker is included in the photo gallery. The only modifications the seller discloses are an aftermarket exhaust valve remote control and clear LED side marker lights, and the Carfax shows regular oil changes, the latest at 3,760 miles in March 2026.
Who Is Selling It
It is a private-party sale out of Rochester, Minnesota, with a clean Minnesota title. In the comments, bidders are already asking about the exhaust valve controller and what else was changed during installation, which is the kind of question worth reading before you bid.
