Few colors say mid-1970s Porsche quite like Lime Green, and this 1975 911 Carrera coupe still wears it the way the factory intended, give or take a repainted roof. The car is listed on Cars & Bids, where it has drawn five bids and sits at $51,911 with the auction set to close October 17 at 2:24 p.m. EDT.
A Carrera With a 911 SC Heart
The 1975 Carrera was a U.S.-market trim built around looks, with fender flares, decals and a rear spoiler on top of the same basic engine as the 911 S. This one now runs a 3.0-liter air-cooled flat-six from the later 911 SC, reportedly built by Kelly Taylor, and sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual. The odometer shows 77,300 miles on a five-digit unit, the title is clean in California, and the car is offered by a private seller in Rosamond.
The swap is softened by what comes with the car. The seller is including the original 2.7-liter engine along with a factory Carrera whale tail, while the car currently wears a ducktail decklid. The listing does not spell out why the original engine came out, but keeping it in the deal gives a future owner a way back to stock.
Original Color, Honest Patina
A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity in the photo gallery confirms that the Lime Green paint and Cinnamon interior are original to the car. According to the seller, only the roof has been repainted after a scratch, and the rest of the finish carries the kind of wear a 51-year-old driver should. Notable equipment includes 15-inch Fuchs wheels, a sunroof, leather upholstery, Sport seats listed on the CoA, and a factory side decal delete.
Porsche's Lime Green, paint code 137, was a regular catalog color for only a few years in the mid-1970s and lives on today as Greenyellow through the Paint to Sample program. The seller says the Carrera just returned from a rally and Porsche event in Idaho, and it is slated to be displayed at Willow Springs Reimagined as part of the Cars & Bids Willow Springs Collection.
What Hagerty's Numbers Say
Hagerty's Valuation Tools put a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 coupe at $51,000 in #3 (Good) condition, and the price guide has been flat over the last quarter, year and three years. That puts the current bid right at Good-condition money. The most recent public auction sale in Hagerty's data was $49,875 on Bring a Trailer in mid-September.
The ceiling is much higher for the right car. Hagerty's past-sales list shows a 43,000-mile Carrera 2.7 coupe bringing $90,300 on Bring a Trailer in November 2025, a 57,186-mile example selling for $89,250 on PCARMARKET in April 2026, and a 24,000-mile car reaching $119,700 in October 2025. At 77,300 miles with a replacement engine, this Carrera sits in a different bracket, though Hagerty notes that few U.S.-spec 2.7-liter cars from these years made it past 75,000 miles before engine trouble, so a healthy 3.0 and a spare original motor are not small talking points.
The engine's namesake gives another reference point. Hagerty values a 1978 911 SC 3.0 coupe at $60,000 in #3 condition, up about 25 percent over three years. Hagerty also cautions that modifications can help or hurt a car's value depending on how many buyers they appeal to, so bidders will want to weigh how much they value SC power in a Carrera body against the original-engine cars that command the big numbers.
Where It Fits in the Air-Cooled Market
Originality has been the thread through the air-cooled stories we have been following. Our look at a 43,000-mile 1979 911SC survivor and a 1977 911S Targa that still wears its original red show how much buyers pay for cars that have been left alone. If you are still deciding where to start, our beginner's guide to air-cooled and water-cooled Porsches covers the basics, and the 1971 911 S with Wolfgang Porsche's fingerprints shows the other end of the early 911 market.
This Carrera is not a numbers-matching time capsule, and the listing does not claim to be one. What it offers is original Lime Green over Cinnamon, a documented Certificate of Authenticity, a strong SC engine, and the original parts to go with it. With 12 days left, bidding is open on Cars & Bids.
