This ultra-rare 400 hp Brooke Double R is the only one with a hand-formed aluminum body—road-legal and faster than most supercars.
In the world of lightweight performance cars, few names are more obscure—or more intriguing—than the Brooke Double R. Even fewer examples exist, and now the only known aluminum-bodied, supercharged 400 BHP version has surfaced in collector-grade condition, offering street-legal performance to rival an Ariel Atom or Caterham Seven.
Born from the ashes of the Brooke Kensington ME190 in the mid-2000s, the Brooke Double R was an ultra-lightweight, minimalist sports car with British roots and a performance-focused ethos. Built on a tubular spaceframe chassis, the Double R featured side-by-side seating, mid-engine layout, and a dry weight of just 510 kg (1,124 lbs).
While 15 units were produced before the boutique manufacturer folded, this example stands alone: it’s the only one ever built with a hand-formed aluminum body, as opposed to the fiberglass shells used on all other production units. Originally created as a factory showcase car, it has just 1,369 miles on the odometer and spent over a decade in a sealed storage bubble, preserving its condition like a time capsule.
Power comes from a supercharged Cosworth-tuned Ford Duratec inline-four, delivering 400 bhp and capable of launching the car from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. That kind of power-to-weight ratio puts it in elite company alongside the Ariel Atom 3 and Lotus 340R.
The car also boasts outboard double wishbone suspension, adjustable coilovers, LED-integrated cycle fenders, and a unique right-side gear lever tailored to its righthand-drive cockpit.
