In 1970, Parnelli Jones drove a Grabber Orange Boss 302 Mustang to the SCCA Trans-Am championship. Thirty-seven years later, Steve Saleen built a tribute, and one is up for auction on Hagerty Marketplace from Richmond, Texas.
The Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition was limited to 500 cars, all painted Grabber Orange with black “302” hockey-stick stripes, a functional shaker hood scoop and Saleen wheels styled after the Minilites on Jones’s race car. Saleen enlarged Ford’s 4.6-liter V8 to 302 cubic inches (5.0 liters), using forged internals and ported heads, for a rating of 400 horsepower before the optional Super Shaker supercharger.
This one has the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and a manual transmission, with a black and orange interior and 23,900 miles on the odometer.
