Slant-nose 930 Turbos have always occupied a strange, wonderful corner of Porsche history, factory cars built to look like something a privateer race shop bolted together. A black 1988 example currently listed on Bring a Trailer wears the full M505 slant-nose package on a cabriolet body, and bidding has already climbed to $78,000 with nine days left to run.
The M505 option deleted the standard round headlights for the flip-up units that gave the slant-nose its name, a look Porsche originally developed for its factory 935 race cars before offering it to civilian buyers at a steep price. This car left the factory finished in black and has been refinished in the same color, paired with Silver Grey partial leather on power-adjustable front sport seats. Power comes from the turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six backed by a four-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, a combination that made the 930 one of the most demanding, most rewarding cars of its era. Equipment on this car includes 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, four-wheel cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes, a black soft top, a CD stereo, and air conditioning. The selling dealer acquired the car this year and shows 52,000 miles on the odometer, with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records including recent spark plugs, plug wires, and a distributor cap and rotor, plus a clean Carfax report and a clean New Jersey title.
