For enthusiasts who want to drive their air-cooled Porsche rather than simply admire it, this 1979 911SC Coupe checks a lot of boxes. Currently listed on Hagerty Marketplace out of Covina, California, the car shows just 43,150 miles and comes with a window sticker documenting more than $5,000 in factory options.

Introduced in 1978, the 911SC (Super Carrera) consolidated Porsche's 911 lineup into a single model, replacing both the base 911 and Carrera trims. Power comes from a 3.0-liter air-cooled flat-six fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, paired here with a five-speed manual transaxle. Standard SC equipment also included four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, front and rear stabilizer bars, alloy wheels, and the distinctive external "trombone" oil cooler mounted in the right front fender well.
This particular car was delivered new to Eero VW in Anchorage, Alaska, where an Alpine cassette stereo was installed before it left the dealership. According to the listing, the seller acquired the car roughly seven years ago and has kept up with its needs, including replacing the air conditioning compressor in 2019 and fitting a fresh set of Continental Extreme Contact tires in 2024 that show less than 150 miles of use.

Outside, the 911SC wears its Mocha Brown finish over 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. The listing notes some paint chips, scratches, swirls, and touch-ups among the car's known imperfections. Inside, Cognac leather upholstery carries through the cabin, and the original window sticker shows this car was optioned generously, with genuine leather seats, automatic speed control, an engine compartment light, air conditioning, and an electric sliding roof all specified from the factory.

As the seller describes it, this SC represents "a period-correct combination that looks better with every passing decade," and the equipment list backs that up, with power windows, power mirrors, a sunroof, and functioning air conditioning making it a car suited to regular use rather than only fair-weather outings.
