Supercharged 2007 Shelby GT500 Convertible Brings 500-HP Drop-Top Thrills to Hagerty Marketplace

When Ford revived the Shelby badge for its SVT Mustang in 2007, it gave enthusiasts something they had been craving for years: a factory muscle car with genuine supercharged firepower and unmistakable retro attitude. Now a particularly well-kept example of that landmark model is crossing the digital block, and it pairs all of the GT500's swagger with the open-air freedom of a convertible top.

Showing roughly 30,300 miles, this Performance White drop-top wears the classic blue LeMans center stripes and matching side striping that have defined the Shelby look for generations. Under that long hood sits the heart of the matter: a supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8 sending 500 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Brembo front brakes, an SVT-tuned suspension, and a limited-slip differential round out the factory hardware that made the GT500 a serious performer straight off the showroom floor.

This is a two-owner car, and the current caretaker has clearly enjoyed it. He acquired the Mustang back in 2013 with just over 8,000 miles on the clock and has piled on roughly 20,000 of his own since, registered in Michigan throughout its life according to the included CARFAX report. Far from a garage queen left to gather dust, this GT500 has actually been driven the way Carroll Shelby would have wanted.

Inside, the cabin keeps its black leather upholstery, power-adjustable driver's seat, and the signature Shelby cobra on the steering wheel, while a power-operated black soft top lets you trade the coupe experience for sunshine in seconds. The factory Shaker 1000 audio system remains with the car, though an aftermarket Kenwood head unit now handles entertainment duties up front. Cruise control plus power windows, locks, and mirrors keep the daily-driving experience comfortable.

Of course, no enthusiast-owned Shelby stays completely stock, and this one has received a thoughtful round of upgrades aimed squarely at performance. A set of Stainless Works long-tube headers feeds a matching cat-back exhaust, a cold air intake helps the supercharged V8 breathe, and a custom tune from Paul's Performance of Jackson, Michigan ties it all together. The driving experience is sharpened further by KW Variant 3 coilovers that drop the car roughly two inches, a McLeod RXT clutch, and an MGW short-throw shifter for crisper gear changes. The car rides on Shelby 18-inch five-spoke wheels.

Importantly, the seller hasn't thrown away the original parts. The sale includes the removed factory wheels and radio, so a future owner could easily return the car to stock specification if desired. The transparency continues with the documentation package, which features a window sticker, owner's manuals, multiple keys, paperwork for the clutch and suspension work, a clean CARFAX, and a clean Michigan title in the seller's name.

As with any honest enthusiast car, there are a few imperfections worth noting. The Michelin tires carry 2015 date codes, the front chin spoiler is scuffed, and there are some creases in the leather upholstery. A replacement front spoiler is included in the sale to address the cosmetic blemish up front.

With the first-generation modern GT500 now firmly established as a future collectible, a sorted, well-documented convertible like this one represents a compelling way into Shelby ownership. The auction is live now on Hagerty Marketplace, where bidding has already climbed past $13,000 with several days left to run.
