That's going to be an awkward ride home...
Many people enjoy the Discovery Channel television show Street Outlaws, so they’ll be disturbed to learn start JJ Da Boss and his wife Tricia Day were injured in a car crash while filming an episode in La Villa, Texas. According to reports, they were drag racing each other in their Chevy Novas when the accident occurred. Day’s injuries were bad enough she apparently was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Reportedly, the two cars made contact as they rocketed down the dragstrip. Day’s car veered into a production van. When vehicles are accelerating and are already at high speeds, one small mistake can make everything go sideways in the blink of an eye.
No video of the crash has been released online, although we’re sure there are people who want to see such a thing. A YouTuber called TexasDragRacingVideo did share footage of the beginning of the drag race, but it cuts off before the collision. Photos of the aftermath are then shown.
An Instagram account called muscle.car.mayhem also posted photos of the wreck. JJ Da Boss posted a live video to his Facebook page on January 15, showing his crew hard at work repairing the damage on his car. He posted a video the same day of him and his wife in the hospital. He seemed to be in an overall good mood, joking about the situation, so his spirits seem to have survived intact. Tricia was smiling from her hospital bed.
This is a reminder that no matter how skillful you are with cars, if you’re pushing the envelope while behind the wheel, accidents become far more likely. Using the proper safety equipment, getting proper training, and racing on a closed course help minimize risk and hopefully lead to a better outcome, but there’s no way to be completely safe.
Street Outlaws has been on the air since 2013, so it’s had quite the run. JJ Da Boss has been one of the top cast members this season, accruing quite the following.
