Modified 2007 Lotus Elise Returns to Bring a Trailer After Previous Sale Falls Through

A 2007 Lotus Elise originally built for the Canadian market has returned to Bring a Trailer after a previous auction sale failed to finalize. The lightweight sports car, known for its agile handling and minimalist design, is being offered by a dealer in Alberta and shows 88,000 kilometers (approximately 55,000 miles).

Finished in bright orange over black leather and cloth, this Elise has received several aftermarket modifications, including a replacement front clamshell, color-matched side skirts, a touchscreen infotainment unit, a backup camera, and a custom exhaust system. The sale also includes the removed factory exhaust components and an uninstalled rear spoiler.

According to the listing, the car previously sustained accident damage in 2009 and 2011 and “vandalism damage” in 2014, all documented in a Carfax report. Despite its history, the car presents as a well-used but well-sorted example of the mid-2000s Lotus spirit. Paint chips, minor scratches, and a chipped windshield are noted, consistent with its age and mileage.

The 1.8-liter Toyota-sourced 2ZZ-GE inline-four produces 190 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transaxle driving the rear wheels. Factory suspension components were recently reinstalled after a prior auction, and the calipers and lug nuts have been refinished. Braking comes from cross-drilled and ventilated discs behind black-finished 16-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels.

Inside, the Elise remains faithful to its stripped-down ethos, with dual bucket seats, push-button ignition, power windows, and air conditioning. Some wear is visible on the seats and shifter boot, and one speaker cover was replaced prior to relisting.

Now offered at no reserve with spare parts, service documentation, and Alberta registration, this relisted Elise gives collectors a second chance to own one of Lotus’s purest driver’s cars—lightweight, mechanical, and unmistakably engaging.
