Jay Leno may be best known for his decades-long run as a late-night television host, but it’s his passion for automobiles that has made him the most searched celebrity car collector in the world, according to new global data.
Leno, 75, has built a reputation as one of the foremost car enthusiasts on the planet, thanks in large part to his YouTube series Jay Leno’s Garage. The digital show, which features reviews, restorations, and interviews, has further cemented his status in the automotive world.
The former Tonight Show host’s collection is estimated to be worth around $100 million and includes over 180 vehicles. Notable examples range from a 1995 McLaren F1—valued in excess of $20 million—to rarities like a Chrysler Turbine Car and a one-off supercar designed in collaboration with General Motors. His garage also houses a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing and a 1934 Duesenberg Walker Coupe.
Surprisingly, Leno beat out some of the world’s most famous names for the top spot. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, billionaire Bill Gates, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk all made the top 10 most searched list, alongside fellow car enthusiasts Jeremy Clarkson, Rowan Atkinson, and Lewis Hamilton.
Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber, and other pop culture figures also landed in the rankings, driven by their high-profile social media presence and luxury automotive tastes.
While figures like Clarkson and Atkinson have long-standing ties to the automotive world, and Ronaldo is known for his exotic cars, Leno’s sheer breadth and depth of automotive knowledge—and willingness to share it—appears to have elevated him to the top of global curiosity.
Though he avoids Ferraris due to philosophical differences with the brand, Leno’s collection spans nearly every marque imaginable, showcasing both history and horsepower in equal measure.
