Hellcat Family Feud: Challenger vs. Trackhawk in a Quarter-Mile Showdown

A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Jeep Trackhawk lined up for a family feud at the drag strip, and the outcome wasn’t close.

The Hellcat era may be over in the showrooms, but out on the drag strip, it’s alive and well—and still stirring up family drama. A recent quarter-mile face-off at Las Vegas Motor Speedway pitted two supercharged siblings against each other: the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Same 6.2-liter Hellcat heart, very different approach to speed.

Even in its “standard” form, the Challenger SRT Hellcat remains a brute. The factory supercharged 6.2-liter V8 pumps out north of 700 horsepower, and in ideal conditions with a capable driver, the coupe can break into the 10-second range in the quarter mile. That used to be supercar-level performance when Dodge launched the Hellcat lineup—and it still turns heads today.

The Jeep Trackhawk may be taller, heavier, and shaped like a brick compared to its low-slung sibling, but don’t be fooled. Jeep stuffed the same 707-hp Hellcat V8 under the hood, backed by 645 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive for maximum dig off the line. When new, the Trackhawk was rated at 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and could rip through the quarter mile in the low-11s—absurd numbers for a family SUV.

So what happened when muscle met muscle… but one sat three feet higher and weighed nearly a thousand pounds more?

Scroll down to watch the race, but here’s a small teaser: the losing run clocked in at 12.23 seconds at almost 111 mph, while the winner crossed with an 11.95-second pass at nearly 113 mph. On paper, the Trackhawk’s AWD traction gives it the jump, while the Challenger typically reels it back in on the top end—but this matchup still delivered a fun result.

And just when you think the video is over, stick around. The second half features the Trackhawk going toe-to-toe with an older Corvette Z06—another intriguing battle worth watching for the reactions alone.

Hellcats may have left dealer lots, but the battles they sparked clearly aren’t going anywhere. Ready to see which one took the crown? Scroll down and hit play.
