BMW has revealed a new concept vehicle offering one of the clearest looks yet at the future direction of Alpina following the German automaker’s takeover of the storied performance brand. The Vision BMW Alpina debuted at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy, presenting a sleek luxury grand tourer that blends traditional Alpina design cues with BMW’s evolving design language and technology.

The unveiling comes several months after BMW officially assumed full control of Alpina, a company long associated with refined high-performance versions of BMW models. Alpina first began modifying BMW vehicles in the 1960s before transitioning into full vehicle production in the late 1970s. Over the decades, the company developed a loyal following through models such as the B6 3.5, B7 S Turbo, and B10 BiTurbo, all known for combining luxury comfort with understated speed and long-distance usability.
BMW’s acquisition marked a significant shift in the relationship between the two brands, with plans to position Alpina as a more exclusive standalone marque aligned closer to Rolls-Royce than mainstream BMW offerings. The Vision BMW Alpina now serves as an early indication of how that transition may shape future products.
The concept takes the form of a large grand touring coupe with flowing proportions and a low, athletic stance. Measuring more than 204 inches long, the car balances luxury-car presence with sporty coupe styling. The front end features a shark-nose profile alongside oversized illuminated kidney grilles, while sculpted body lines and a sloping roofline reinforce the vehicle’s performance-focused appearance.
Several classic Alpina styling elements have been reinterpreted throughout the design. The concept includes signature side graphics inspired by Alpina’s traditional Deco striping, prominent Alpina badging, quad exhaust outlets, and distinctive 20-spoke wheels. BMW also referenced the original Alpina B7 coupe as an inspiration point for applying the brand’s philosophy to a luxury-focused platform.
Inside, the Vision BMW Alpina adopts many of the futuristic technologies expected in BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse generation of vehicles. The cabin features the company’s Panoramic iDrive display system designed to keep critical information within the driver’s field of view, along with a dedicated passenger display. Premium materials dominate the interior, including full-grain leather upholstery with stitching patterns inspired by Alpina’s exterior graphics.
Crystal accents play a major role throughout the cabin, appearing in physical controls and even within the rear-seat console, which houses self-deploying crystal glasses aimed at enhancing the luxury experience for passengers.
While BMW provided limited technical specifications, the company confirmed the concept remains powered by a traditional V8 engine rather than an electric drivetrain. The engine was reportedly tuned to preserve the deep, refined sound signature historically associated with Alpina models. BMW also emphasized ride comfort as a core priority, continuing Alpina’s long-standing focus on effortless high-speed touring rather than aggressive track-focused dynamics.
Although BMW has recently turned several Villa d’Este concepts into production vehicles, including the Skytop roadster and Speedtop shooting brake, the automaker has not announced production plans for the Vision BMW Alpina. Still, many of its design features and interior technologies are expected to influence future Alpina models as the brand enters its next chapter under BMW ownership.
