1966 Plymouth Satellite Lets You Shred Serious Rubber

Recent performance upgrades make this ride especially hot.

Going fast is great, but this 1966 Plymouth Satellite lets you do that in real period-correct style. With a look that’s a complete standout, everyone will notice as you drive by. Even better, a fiery 408ci stroker V8 whips up a storm with 385-horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s not a bad way to murder your rear tires.

The performance enhancements don’t stop there. TTI headers were recently installed, and so is a power brake system. Also fresh is a power steering pump and hoses, alternator, and an updated air conditioning which uses R134 freon so you can bask in the refreshingly cold air next summer.

If you’ll notice, this car looks great all around, including the undercarriage. It’s an Arizona vehicle, so that means a lack of rust, which is part of the reason why. In addition, the body panels are all straight and fit together great. Believe it or not, this Plymouth has only had one repaint, with obvious meticulous care since, really making that Citron Gold Metallic sparkle in the light. A white hardtop and chrome which appears to be pretty fresh, plus nice Magnum wheels make for a head-turning combination.

Slip inside and you’ll be surrounded by a similarly clean Gold interior. The factory setup is full of character, from the texturized steering wheel to the western embossed strips on the vinyl seats and door panels. Everything works and nothing is in bad repair, so you can easily feel transported back to the 1960s in this ride.

Plymouth launched the Satellite only the year before, 1965, as an upmarket version of the Belvedere. For 1966 designers created a much more impressive exterior design, which you can clearly see is quite amazing, and people absolutely loved it. Since the Satellite was pretty popular and it shares parts with other Mopars, keeping a ride like this maintained isn’t difficult at all.

If you might be interested in owning this car, it’s available for purchase through Volo Auto Museum.
