One of just 48 units known to exist today.

Chances are the last time you’ve seen a Ford Galaxie was not yesterday, and likely not today either. These vehicles are not particularly common to see, especially these days. That is only part of what makes this 1964 Ford Galaxie Fastback R-Code so rare. This example right here is one of the most correct and original R-Code models on the market. It’s a number-matching Galaxie with all the correct date codes and parts. Out of the 48 Galaxie R-Code vehicles known to exist today, how many are left in such original condition?

This 1964 Ford Galaxie Fastback R-Code has been brought to Carolina Muscle Cars by a longtime friend and car collector. He had the car stored away in his private collection for more than 13 years. This vehicle has not been up for sale since 2006, but it is today! If you are a Ford performance fan, this is the car for you.

It’s a red-on-black beauty in excellent condition. The exterior paint looks immaculate at every angle with matching wheels to boot. The color accentuates every curve of the car with grace and stands out no matter where you go. The complete original black interior was well taken care of and barely shows any sign of aging. Even the body of this model is rust free and retains all its original body panels.

The model you see here was ordered new with several options from the factory and documented by the original door tag. R-code is Ford lingo for the division’s racing motor. It is powered by the R-Code 427 cubic-inch dual-carburetor factory race engine that produces a whopping 425 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a factory four-speed manual Toploader transmission with a 3.50 ratio Ford 9-inch rear end. Other features include heavy-duty brakes, an aluminum dual-quad intake manifold, high-performance exhaust manifold, and dual-point distributor. This Galaxie Fastback R-Code rides Kelsey Hayes wheel wheels with “poverty” hub caps and blackwall tires on special heavy-duty suspension.
