1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

The majority of the styling remained for the 1972 Chevelle, but included a new grille and new parking lights mounted on the leading edges of the fenders. Lower displayed performance was evident because GM required all performance numbers to be reported as net engine ratings.

Overview

The base Chevelle consisted of the sport coupe and 4-door sedan. One change, however, was the introduction of a suspended accelerator instead of the hinged one at the bottom.

The Heavy Chevy that was released late 1971, was basically the economy version of the SS. It could be had with any of the V8s, except the 454, which was exclusive to the SS.

The SS Package showed little change from the previous year. It still had the unique black grille and a domed hood with lock pins. This was the only package the 454 was available with.
