Bring the sweet spot of 1950s Ford pickup design together with a blower and a modern front end, and you get the kind of truck that is easy to love and easy to drive. This Modified Supercharged 1956 Ford F-100 on Hagerty Marketplace is a black Blue Oval hauler with a McCulloch-boosted 312 V8 and a three-speed manual, and bidding sat at $10,000 after nine bids when we looked. The auction ends Thursday, October 22 at 2:00 PM EDT.
A Y-Block With a Blower
Under the hood is a 312ci Thunderbird Special V8, a big-displacement Y-block from the same family that powered Ford's first-generation Thunderbird. Per the listing, it wears a McCulloch VS57 supercharger and breathes out through dual exhaust. The chassis number decodes to a truck that left Norfolk, Virginia with a 272ci two-barrel V8, so the bigger, boosted engine is a later swap. Power goes through a three-speed manual to a 3.73 rear gear, which should make for lively around-town manners.
Better Brakes, Steering and Stance
The seller says the truck has been updated to be a real driver. A Mustang II-style front end brings rack and pinion steering and front disc brakes, which is a long way from the recirculating-ball steering and drum brakes Ford fitted in 1956. Bosch auxiliary gauges keep an eye on the engine inside the red and black interior, and the black refinish is finished off with painted bumpers and grille, 15-inch black steel wheels and a stained wood bed.
What to Know Before Bidding
This is not a concours piece, and the listing is upfront about that. Known imperfections include dents in the bed, paint and body flaws, and interior wear. The odometer shows 87,600 miles TMU, the truck is in Lake Forest, Illinois, and it comes with a clean Illinois title in the seller's name. The seller acquired it in 2025. Shoppers should do their own homework, as Hagerty reminds bidders in the listing.
Where the Market Stands
The 1956 model is the year to have in this generation, thanks to its one-year-only wraparound windshield. Using Hagerty's valuation tools, the 1956 Ford F-100 1/2 Ton carries a #3 Good value range of roughly $19,400 to $25,500 as of October 2026. That figure is flat over the past quarter and year and down about 9.8 percent over three years. Remember that guide values are based on largely original trucks, and this one has a swapped engine, a late-model-style front clip and a boost kit, so it is a custom with its own market. Hagerty's past sales show how wide the range can be: a similar black-and-red modified '56 with an automatic transmission sold for $54,600. With the bid at $10,000 and nine days left, this one has room to move, but a driver-quality truck with a supercharged Y-block is one that could still land well under the guide's Good range.
