Shelby American has unveiled a new chapter in its modern muscle car lineup with the introduction of the Shelby GT350 convertible, the first open-top version of the model produced in 60 years. The move revives a brief but storied chapter in Shelby history, when a small number of GT350 convertibles were built in the mid-1960s following strong demand for the original hardtop.
The modern GT350, relaunched by Shelby American last year, returns for a second model year with expanded options and renewed emphasis on performance. While the GT350 name historically sat below the more extreme GT500, the latest version delivers output that places it among the most powerful Mustangs available outside of Ford’s limited-production GTD.

Power comes from Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8, rated at 480 horsepower in standard form. Buyers can opt for a supercharger package that raises output to 810 horsepower, just five horsepower shy of the GTD. That upgrade includes a Whipple supercharger and a Borla exhaust system developed specifically for Shelby.
Customers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or Ford’s 10-speed automatic. Manual-equipped cars receive Shelby-specific hardware, including a short-throw shifter and branded shift knob.
Suspension options begin with either standard shocks or Ford’s magnetically adjustable dampers. Shelby adds its own lowering springs and upgraded sway bars to sharpen handling regardless of configuration. The GT350 rides on Shelby-designed wheels measuring 20x9.5 inches up front and 20x11 inches at the rear, wrapped in Michelin tires developed in collaboration with Shelby.

Exterior changes include a unique hood, revised upper and lower grilles, a rear spoiler, and Shelby badging. Inside, each car features serialized plaques, Shelby-branded floor mats, and re-covered leather seats.
Shelby American plans to build fewer than 1,000 GT350s for the 2026 model year. Production will be split between coupes and convertibles based on demand. Pricing starts at $121,385 for a supercharged coupe and $127,884 for the convertible. A sport bar is available for convertible buyers seeking a classic Shelby appearance.
