Bugatti EB 112 Sedan Heads to Monaco Auction With Minimal Mileage

A rare Bugatti EB 112 sedan, one of only three ever completed, is set to cross the auction block in Monaco with an expected value reaching up to $2.3 million.

The EB 112 represents a little-known chapter in Bugatti’s history, emerging during the brand’s Italian revival under Romano Artioli. After acquiring Bugatti in 1987, Artioli sought to reestablish the marque with both a high-performance supercar and a luxury sedan. While the EB 110 fulfilled the supercar vision, the EB 112 was designed to serve as a high-powered four-door flagship inspired by the elegance of Bugatti’s 1930s models.

Unveiled in 1993, the EB 112 was styled by renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. Despite its ambitious concept, the car was never intended for full production. Bugatti’s financial collapse just two years later halted development, leaving behind a single working prototype and two incomplete design models.

Those unfinished cars were later acquired by Gildo Pallanca Pastor, who commissioned Monaco Racing Team to complete all three examples into fully operational vehicles. The result transformed what began as concept studies into functioning, roadworthy sedans.

The example now heading to auction remained in Pastor’s personal collection until his death in 2015. It is still registered in Monaco and has covered just 388 kilometers, or 241 miles, since new, making it one of the lowest-mileage Bugattis of its era.

Built on the same carbon fiber chassis as the EB 110, the EB 112 features a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine mounted behind the front axle. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system with a 38:62 torque split, the sedan delivers an estimated 456 horsepower and 590 Nm of torque. Period performance figures suggest it could accelerate to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in black leather with detailed metal accents, while rear passengers are treated to a dedicated entertainment screen. The car also includes bespoke luggage and a custom umbrella inspired by Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic elephant sculpture.

As one of only three examples ever completed, the EB 112 stands as a rare blend of luxury and performance, offering a glimpse into what could have been one of the most distinctive sedans of its time.
