Jensen Reveals Interceptor GTX as Modern Revival Takes Shape

Jensen International has revealed new details about its long-anticipated revival of the Interceptor, confirming the upcoming model will carry the name Interceptor GTX as development moves forward.

The announcement marks a significant step in the return of the historic nameplate, with the company signaling a balance between classic design cues and contemporary performance. Early preview imagery suggests the two-door coupe will retain elements inspired by the original Interceptor, particularly in its expansive rear glass design, while incorporating modern styling features such as a full-width LED lightbar and intricate lighting signatures. The silhouette also points to a more aggressive stance, with broad bodywork, a sharply angled windscreen and a distinctive partial B-pillar.

Construction of the Interceptor GTX will rely on an aluminum platform, with both the chassis and body panels formed from the material. This approach contrasts with the growing use of carbon fiber in modern performance vehicles, highlighting a deliberate move toward traditional craftsmanship. The company has emphasized a focus on delivering a more tactile driving experience, supported by a V-8 powertrain intended to prioritize driver engagement.

While Jensen has described the engine as bespoke, industry speculation suggests the powertrain could be based on a 6.2-liter V-8 commonly associated with high-performance American sports cars. Any such engine would likely be modified to meet the specific performance and character goals of the GTX.

The project also carries a strong historical connection through the involvement of Jeff Qvale, whose family previously owned Jensen. His participation reflects a continuation of the brand’s legacy, adding a personal dimension to the car’s development.

A prototype of the Interceptor GTX is expected to debut around the time of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, offering the first public glimpse of the reborn model. The unveiling is anticipated to draw interest from enthusiasts eager to see how Jensen blends its heritage with modern engineering in a segment increasingly focused on digital performance.
