Jeep Unveils Limited-Run Wrangler Commando Exclusively for U.S. Service Members

Jeep has partnered with off-road specialist Fox Factory to launch a highly limited version of the Wrangler aimed almost entirely at U.S. service members. Called the Wrangler Commando, the special edition will see just 250 units produced, with nearly all reserved for active-duty military and veterans.

Only one example will be offered to the general public, scheduled to be auctioned to benefit the USO. The remaining 249 units will be available exclusively to qualified military buyers through an application process on Fox Factory’s website, where applicants must note their service background and provide a personal account of their military experience.

Built from the foundation of the Wrangler 392, the Commando retains the factory 470-horsepower Hemi V8, the most powerful engine currently offered in a Wrangler. Fox Factory adds a series of performance and off-road upgrades, including a 3.5-inch lift kit, Fox 3.0 external reservoir shocks, and 37-inch Nitto mud-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch beadlock-capable white wheels. The setup is designed to improve capability on rugged terrain while giving the SUV a more purposeful stance.

The exterior receives additional military-inspired touches, including tube doors, a bimini-style top, and an olive drab finish reminiscent of classic military vehicles. Buyers can further enhance the vehicle with an optional Whipple supercharger that raises output to 705 horsepower, transforming the already potent 392 into an even more extreme off-road machine.

Inside, the Commando features desert khaki leather upholstery embroidered with a unique logo, giving the cabin a custom appearance that complements the model’s theme.

Despite its extensive modifications, the Commando remains covered by Jeep’s factory 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. That coverage makes the special edition unusual in the world of modified vehicles, where factory backing is rarely retained.
