Hot Wheels has revealed its newest addition to the Premium Car Culture lineup: the “Terra Trek” Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. This detailed 1:64-scale model celebrates one of the most beloved and enduring 4x4s in Toyota’s history, combining nostalgia, craftsmanship, and rugged authenticity.

Unlike standard Hot Wheels cars, the Terra Trek FJ60 features a fully die-cast metal body and chassis along with the brand’s signature Real Riders tires — rubber treads that mimic the off-road look and feel of the original. The added heft and durability make it as appealing for display as it is for play, bridging the gap between childhood toy and collector’s piece.
The original Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 debuted in 1980, marking a significant evolution in the Land Cruiser lineage. It replaced the 55 Series and brought new levels of comfort and refinement to Toyota’s rugged off-road lineup without sacrificing capability. Built on a traditional steel ladder frame, it retained solid axles front and rear but introduced power steering, air conditioning, and a more spacious cabin — features that broadened its appeal beyond the trail to suburban driveways.

FJ60 offered enough muscle for long-distance travel and backcountry exploration. Its reputation for reliability and mechanical simplicity made it a global success, particularly in regions like North America, Australia, and Africa. Later models, such as the fuel-injected FJ62, hinted at Toyota’s move toward the luxury SUV market that would eventually lead to the modern Land Cruiser’s prestige.
Hot Wheels’ Terra Trek edition pays homage to that legacy, encapsulating the FJ60’s mix of durability and style in miniature form. As vintage SUVs continue to gain traction among collectors, this scaled-down Land Cruiser stands as both a nostalgic keepsake and a tribute to one of the world’s toughest off-road icons.
