Bespoke Rallies is bringing back one of motorsport’s most storied endurance events with the announcement of the 2026 Grand Prix of South America. Scheduled from October 22 to November 25, the upcoming rally pays tribute to the legendary 1948 race, an event long regarded as one of the most ambitious open-road competitions ever staged. The modern revival aims to recreate both the scale and spirit of that historic challenge, drawing competitors through six countries and thousands of kilometers of dramatic terrain.
The rally will begin in Buenos Aires with a symbolic midnight start, marked by Oscar Fangio, son of the famed driver whose achievements helped define the original event. Over the following month, entrants will travel nearly 11,000 kilometers across Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. The route concludes in Cartagena, offering an expansive look at South America’s landscapes, from mountain passes to coastal stretches.

Organizers have built a 32-day structure that blends endurance driving with opportunities to rest and celebrate. Participants will experience two starting days, 20 days on the road and eight days reserved for recovery. Each night includes hotel accommodations, and major cities along the way will host VIP receptions. Local car clubs will provide additional support, adding a community element to the long-distance challenge.
The event’s design also honors the legacy of the 1948 competitors, known as the “Knights of the Road.” Their reputation for resilience and mutual support will be reflected in a symbolic reenactment of the race’s famous Stage 7, during which Fangio assisted fellow competitors. A special recognition titled “El Caballero del Camino” will be presented at the final dinner in 2026 to a participant who exemplifies that tradition of sportsmanship.

Comprehensive mechanical, medical and logistical support will accompany crews throughout the journey, with border coordination arranged in advance to reduce complications. For many seasoned rally drivers, the Grand Prix of South America remains a bucket-list challenge, and organizers expect the 2026 edition to attract both veterans and newcomers.
