Watch A Huge Muscle Car Barn Find

All these cars are GMs and many are in surprisingly good condition.

Everyone likes a good barn find. It’s the modern equivalent to uncovering pirate treasure, as you find something of great value which has been hidden away and maybe even completely forgotten about. The video below shows one of the larger barn finds you’re liable to see. Dozens of old GM muscle cars are lined up in an unassuming furniture factory basement, some in what appears to be excellent condition. Call it the ultimate fantasy, because for an American muscle fan that’s exactly what it is.

Among the gems two Hurst Olds, several Pontiac GTOs, and some 442 Cutlasses. One of those GTOs was a special-order machine with plenty of go-fast parts, a rare Cardinal Red paint color, and a factory 4.33 Posi rear end. A dealership owned it and used the car to race, acting as a form of advertising. It really sounds like a good excuse to have a lot of fun, which there’s nothing wrong with that.

It’s also worth mentioning the 1970 Buick GS Stage 1, only it’s non-numbers matching, but is still quite the car with the factory silver paint.

This collection was documented by Auto Archeology. Located somewhere in Illinois, most of the muscle cars have been sitting unused for 15 to 20 years. One key to the preservation of the vehicles was the fact the factory was temperature and humidity controlled, since that’s necessary for making furniture.

The big question is what the owner plans to do with all these amazing cars? As he goes through the video explaining the backstory and what attracted him to each car, it’s obvious he has a passion for them. But to leave them hidden away in a dark basement, dust gathering everywhere is like a crime. Some need extensive work, including the motor being gone. The owner looks young, so maybe his plans to fix up and sell portions of his collection will come to pass. Regardless, the collection is amazing.
