Brilliant Black 1982 Porsche 928 Coupe Combines Power And Luxury

This beautiful low-mileage sports car is lustrous at every angle.

The 1982 Porsche 928 coupe you see here has had just one owner throughout its entire life in Ohio. The owner sold the car to his neighbor last summer; the young man spent quite a bit to bring the car back to serviced and running condition before selling it to Gaudin Porsche Classic, Inc. this past winter. This car is an unbelievable preservation of a true iconic European sports car and in immaculate condition. The photos just don’t do it justice; this beauty is a stunner! What’s more, the car has approximately 11,500 original miles on the odometer and its whole life ahead of it.

Emissions and safety regulations were getting tougher in the early ‘70s. Since America was Porsche’s biggest market, the German automaker decided to develop an entirely new vehicle that would incorporate the latest federal parameters. Engineers were given free rein to ultimately “invent” a new Porsche, resulting in plans for the Porsche 928 – a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive V8 Grant Touring car.

This refined example combined the power and handling of a sports car with the comfort and options of a luxury vehicle. Porsche produced the 928 from 1977 through 1995. While the 928 never dominated or threatened the iconic Porsche 911 in the showrooms, it did find a very loyal following.

This 1982 Porsche 928 lived its life out in the mid-west, which is evident by its excellent condition from the exterior to the interior and undercarriage. It still wears its original deep glossy black paint with a like-new matching black interior. The carpets, headliner, and leather are all in pristine condition and further evidence of the low mileage. It’s without a doubt this car was babied and very well taken care of.

Under the hood is an all-aluminum 4.5-liter V8 engine with Bosch Continuous Injection System (CIS) fuel delivery that produces 219 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. Weight distribution on this beauty is nearly perfect too, with 51 percent at the front and 49 percent at the rear. The suspension was perfected to ensure snap oversteer would not occur with even the most aggressive drivers.

Gaudin Porsche conducted a thorough and complete inspection of the car by a Gold Certified Porsche classic technician. It only needed a basic annual service and transmission flush. This car is now ready to go and turn heads at your local car show, next Concours, or at cars and coffee.
