1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport Is Restoration Perfection

This numbers matching Chevelle Super Sport has recently undergone a body-off restoration. It's old-school muscle at its best

Introduced in 1964, the Chevrolet Chevelle represents one of the American marque's most popular models. It was available in a wide variety of variants including sedans, station wagons, coupés, and convertibles, meaning that it appealed to the masses. However, it was always the potent Chevelle Super Sport that got pulses racing.

Listed in our classifieds is this stunning 1966 Super Sport model that has benefited from a complete body-off restoration. Plenty of attention to detail has been paid during the extensive process, resulting in this car wearing its period correct Chateau Slate paint with pride.

The silhouette of this coupé might appear understated, but its performance is hinted at via a set of parallel grilles in the hood. The red pin-striped tires also suggest that there’s more than meets the eye here, but like old-school moonshine cars, it doesn’t draw too much attention to itself.

This car’s interior has also been restored to perfection with its correct Ivory bucket seats looking like they’ve never been sat in. A pristine dashboard houses an updated direct-fit AM/FM radio, and also presents the driver with a large two-spoke steering wheel.

However, the real showstopper is under the hood. Housed within a satin black engine bay is a 396ci ‘big block’ V8 engine that packs 375-horsepower. This numbers matching unit is accompanied by a lightweight Winters intake, Holley carburetor, and upgraded roller valve-train. All of that power and torque is translated to the rear wheels by a tough aluminum Muncie four-speed gearbox, and a 12-bolt axle.

The chassis hosts rebuilt suspension, functioning factory power steering, power front discs, and rear drum brakes. This car is in excellent condition from nose to tail with every component receiving the attention it deserves. It also comes complete with original Retail Order and Protect-O-Plate.

The 19,800-mile car is currently listed at $76,900 by RK Motors. If you’re in the market for one of these American classics, this example appears to be one of the best.
