Rare 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS Is A One-Owner Beast

Dominate car shows and drag strips in this L72 Impala SS.

The 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS is perhaps best known for being the last time this nameplate was used until 1994, but it's also a perfect example of an extremely collectible classic car with limited production volume and a powerful engine. This big, bad 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS Coupe is part of the Glen Boyd Collection that will be up for grabs in December through Raleigh Classic Car Auctions.

Chevy built less than 2,500 examples of the Impala SS in 1969 making them incredibly rare, and this particular one is even more special. Not only is this 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS a one-owner, unrestored that is in incredible condition, it is also equipped with the highest-powered engine option from that year. All versions of the '69 Impala SS came with a 427 CID V8 under the hood, but there were three options available: the base 427 produced 335 horsepower, the L36 427 with 390 horsepower and the L72 427 laying down 425 horsepower. This car is equipped with the latter, and it's fitted to a Turbo Hydramatic transmission and a posi-traction rear end with 3.31 gears.

This all-original Impala SS is painted in LeMans Blue with a black interior and bench front seats. According to the listing, the 77,516 showing on the odometer are actual original miles, and the overall condition of this car helps back that up. This car is so original and well-preserved that it even comes with the original window sticker!

This rare example of a high-powered '69 Impala SS will be featured at the Winter 2019 Raleigh Classic on December 6-7 along with many of the other classic and collectible vehicles that will be crossing the auction block. Be sure you're registered to bid if you want a shot at being the winning bidder on this iconic American muscle car.
