A beautifully restored example of one of the rarest color combinations in Corvair history is currently crossing the block at Hagerty Marketplace, where bidding on this 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Sport Coupe has already climbed past $17,000. Finished in Aztec Bronze over a color-coordinated Bronze interior, this second-generation Corsa pairs sharp European-inspired styling with a rare factory color pairing offered only for the 1966 model year.
The current owner acquired the car in February 2023 after it had sat off the road since 1974 with a frozen engine, and undertook a multi-year, body-off restoration that stripped the coupe to bare metal. Every major system was addressed along the way, including a rebuilt engine and transaxle, and an overhauled suspension, brakes, fuel, steering, and shifter systems, all while keeping modifications reversible to preserve the car's stock character.
Power comes from the Corsa's signature 164-cubic-inch Turbo-Air flat-six, factory rated at 140 horsepower and fed by a quartet of Rochester single-barrel carburetors, sending power through a four-speed manual transaxle. The car rolls on Oldsmobile-sourced Super Stock II wheels with custom Corsa center caps, wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires sized to preserve accurate speedometer readings, while a wood-look two-spoke steering wheel and factory-correct AM/FM radio round out the cabin.
Backing up the restoration is an impressive paper trail: over 450 photos documenting the process, receipts totaling roughly $29,000 in restoration materials, the original owner's manual and accessory literature, a Protect-O-Plate, and published newsletter articles chronicling the build. The effort paid off on the show field too, with the Corsa scoring better than 95 points at the 2026 National Corvair Convention Concours d'Elegance in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
With a clean Maryland title, meticulous documentation, and a color combination rarely seen on the second-generation Corvair, this Corsa stands out as one of the more compelling driver-quality classics currently up for bid, with the auction set to close later this week.
