Break Necks In This Low-Mileage 1987 Buick GNX

Any car enthusiast can appreciate this '80s dominator.

Any car enthusiast familiar with '80s performance machines know that the Buick GNX reigned king. In fact, it is probably one of the most respected Buick models to this day. Back then, most people associated Buick with their grandfather's cushiony cruiser, but the automaker was looking for a way to appeal to a younger demographic and introduced the Grand National in 1982. Then in 1984, Buick upped the ante even more, and a more potent version called the Grand National GNX was born. Not only was the car a big step for Buick, it also filled a void in an era where performance cars were somewhat lacking. Even GM's big, bad Corvette was only putting out 185-horsepower. Buick stepped up to the plate and offered the GNX with a stout 300-horsepower right out of the gate. Duffy's Classic Cars is offering the perfect opportunity to take home this highly desired 1987 Buick GNX with under 43,000 original miles on the clock.

The Grand National was given a style all its own so it was easy to spot one in the wild. Blanketed in its iconic black finish, this GNX is in fantastic condition and has all the power options. GM had issues with their paint formula, so minor paintwork was performed on the car along with the replacement of bumper fillers, but all this was due to the original engineering. A set of 16-inch black spoked alloy wheels sit on all four corners and are wrapped with newer Goodyear Eagle black-wall radials (245/50VR16), and monochromatic bumpers can be found on both the front and rear.

Powering this '80s beast is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged and intercooled V6 engine that produced 300-horsepower and 355 lb/ft of torque. Sending power down to the rear wheels is a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. For additional oomph and rumble, a full performance-tuned Pit Bull cat-back exhaust was installed and features the correct tips. A force to be reckoned with, the GNX sprinted from 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds and conquer the quarter-mile in about 13.4 seconds at about 100 miles per hour.

Open the doors to an interior that is just as appealing as its exterior complete with the correct gray and black bucket seats. Even more, the factory air conditioning performs flawlessly and keeps the cabin nice and cool. All factory instrumentation can be found embedded in the dash along with the boost indicator and tach. Even more, the inside features a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, cruise control, the original AM/FM radio with an equalizer, power windows and locks, and full correct trunk trim complete with a spare and jack.
