Track car, drag racer, and daily driver aka: the perfect collection.
In the early 2000s, going fast was finally becoming a real possibility for enthusiasts all across the U.S. One automobile leading the charge towards a quicker future was this 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. With a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine under the hood, it was pretty much impossible to beat this ‘Stang in any stock vehicle from an American manufacturer.
Notice how I said a stock vehicle, that’s because one car that might be able to vanquish the GT500 is this drag car built in 1965. Also bearing the Mustang name, this pony car utilizes a way bigger engine to make tons of power. In total, 500 cubic inches of displacement flows through the powerhouse. What was once an apparently puny 460 cubic inch V8 is now a fully built drag racing unit fit for any racer with passion.
Finally, in case you're looking for a classic Mustang daily driver, there’s this beautiful 1971 edition. It may not be as violently fast as the previous vehicles, with a 302 cubic inch V8, but it will never disappoint you driving down the road and hearing the scream of your four-barrel carburetor sucking in air like a mad dog. With all of the best attributes of these Mustangs put on full display, you might consider adding the cars to your collection and becoming part of Mustang history.
