Rare 2000 Corvette AAT Conversion Blends Classic Styling With C5 Performance

Unique 2000 Corvette receives a $30K AAT retro-style transformation honoring the 1953 model, pairing nostalgia with modern tech.

A rare fusion of vintage design and late-model engineering is drawing attention at a Minnesota dealership with the sale of a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette featuring a bespoke AAT Commemorative Edition conversion.

Designed by Advanced Automotive Technologies (AAT), this limited-production model was built to celebrate the Corvette’s 50th anniversary by reviving the iconic styling of the original 1953 model. Using the fifth-generation C5 Corvette as a foundation, AAT applied custom front and rear fascias, round headlights, chrome bumpers, and vintage-inspired taillights—delivering a tribute to America’s original sports car while retaining the mechanical advantages of modern technology.

At the heart of this unique build is a fuel-injected 5.7-liter LS1 V8 engine, rated at 345 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential. The result is smooth, confident acceleration combined with the reliability expected of GM’s C5 platform.

Unlike its 1953 predecessor, this modern interpretation comes fully equipped. Amenities include four-wheel disc brakes with slotted rotors, rack and pinion power steering, dual-zone air conditioning, cruise control, a heads-up display, power windows, and a multi-function digital driver information center. The interior is trimmed in two-tone Red and Shale leather, with power bucket seats and matching panels that preserve the Corvette’s modern interior layout.

With just 200 of these AAT Commemorative Editions ever built, the Torch Red convertible represents a rare intersection of collectibility and drivability. Offered by Ellingson Motorcars, the car comes from a long-term owner and features over $30,000 in professional conversion work.

As the Corvette continues to evolve into the mid-engine era, this retro-styled AAT model stands as a rolling tribute to its earliest roots—while ensuring no compromise in performance or comfort.
