Originally designed as a grand touring sports car powered by a naturally aspirated Aston Martin V12, this DB9 underwent a complete transformation in 2021 at Conquer Custom in Tampa, Florida. The project was created as a showcase vehicle for the Holley Terminator X Max engine management system and later prepared for display at the 2025 LS Fest in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The most significant mechanical change is the replacement of the original V12 engine with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 sourced from a Chevrolet Corvette. The engine has been upgraded with a mild-performance camshaft, custom air intake, and long-tube headers, while Holley’s Terminator X Max system manages engine functions. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Corvette-derived 4L65E four-speed automatic transaxle connected via a torque tube and mounted to the factory Aston Martin subframe.
While the drivetrain conversion alone makes the car unusual, the Bond-inspired modifications push the DB9 into full show car territory. Hidden behind the front grille is a pair of minigun-style flame-shooting assemblies activated by a mechanism that tilts the grille forward using a linear actuator system. The setup uses propane and oxygen tanks mounted in the trunk to create bursts of flame, while smoke canisters mounted at the rear further add to the theatrical presentation.
The exterior was refinished in Skyfall Silver during a repaint completed in 2025, reinforcing the connection to the James Bond universe. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with Lexani LX-Twenty tires, while Aston Martin-branded brake calipers clamp slotted and ventilated rotors at all four corners. The traction control system has also been removed as part of the build.
Inside, the cabin has been fully retrimmed in black Alcantara covering the seats, center console, and door panels. A custom control panel has been integrated into the dashboard, while a Bluetooth-capable sound system modernizes the entertainment setup. The digital instrument display incorporates graphics inspired by the 007 franchise, continuing the car’s cinematic theme throughout the interior.
The DB9 itself holds an important place in Aston Martin history. Produced from 2004 through 2016, it became the first model built on Aston Martin’s bonded aluminum VH platform and was assembled at the company’s Gaydon facility in England. The DB9 ultimately became Aston Martin’s best-selling model at the time, surpassing the earlier DB7 and helping position the company as a more serious competitor to brands such as Ferrari and Porsche.
This customized example also carries a rebuilt history. Vehicle records indicate the car was involved in an accident in 2017 and later declared a total loss before eventually receiving a rebuilt Florida title in 2026. The digital odometer currently shows 4,500 miles driven since completion of the project, though total chassis mileage remains unknown.
Blending British grand touring heritage with American V8 power and dramatic movie-inspired modifications, the custom DB9 represents a highly unconventional interpretation of one of Aston Martin’s most influential modern models.
