A 17,000-mile 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible highlights the final year of the fourth generation, combining rarity with performance.
The final chapter of Chevrolet’s fourth-generation Camaro is represented in a remarkably preserved example—a 2002 Camaro SS Convertible with just 17,233 miles. Offered in factory stock condition, this six-speed manual SS embodies the end of an era when the F-body platform bowed out after nearly 35 years of production.

Chevrolet’s “Performance – American Style” tagline found its fullest expression in the SS, a model developed in partnership with Street Legal Performance (SLP) of Canada. Each Z28 Camaro destined for SS status was shipped from GM’s Sainte-Thérèse, Québec, assembly line to SLP’s nearby facility in La Salle. There, it received a cold-air induction system fed by a functional NACA-duct hood, unique SS trim, and a revised rear spoiler. Power climbed to 325 horsepower, or 345 with the optional performance exhaust—figures that kept the Camaro competitive against Ford’s Mustang GT at the turn of the millennium.

This particular SS Convertible is finished in Light Pewter Metallic with a black top and Ebony leather interior. Its MN6 six-speed T56 transmission pairs with the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 to deliver 345 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. A Torsen limited-slip differential, high-performance suspension package, and ventilated disc brakes round out the performance package.

Equipment includes the Preferred Equipment Group, SS Performance Appearance Package, Monsoon premium stereo, and air conditioning. The car retains its original keys, manuals, 2002 Camaro brochure, SS floor mats, and a three-piece convertible top boot with its carry case. Known imperfections are limited to light scratches, fading sun visors, and minor mirror wear.

With fourth-generation Camaro production ending in August 2002 and the Sainte-Thérèse plant shuttered soon after, low-mile examples like this SS Convertible stand as both collector-grade cars and symbols of a muscle car era that briefly went dark before the Camaro’s revival in 2010.
