Final-year IROC-Z Camaro, one of just 1,294 produced in 1990, heads to auction in well-preserved condition.
A rare piece of muscle car history is heading to auction, as GAA Classic Car Auctions prepares to offer a 1990 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z—one of only 1,294 produced in the model’s final year.

The IROC-Z, named after the International Race of Champions series, became a symbol of American performance in the 1980s and early ’90s. With aggressive styling, V8 power, and sharp handling, it cemented its place in the third-generation Camaro lineup. This particular example, presented in striking black paint over a gray bucket seat interior, represents one of the last to roll off the line before the IROC-Z nameplate was retired at the end of the 1990 model year.

Under the hood, the Camaro is powered by a V8 engine, delivering the kind of performance that made the IROC-Z a favorite on the street and at the track. While exact engine specifications were not disclosed, most 1990 IROC-Z models were equipped with either a 305 or 350 cubic-inch V8, paired with a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.

This model comes equipped with popular factory options of the era, including power windows, power door locks, and air conditioning, enhancing its appeal as both a collectible and a cruiser. The interior remains period-correct, featuring gray upholstery and classic Camaro trim.

As values for third-generation Camaros continue to rise, particularly for limited-production and final-year variants, this IROC-Z stands out as a promising opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike. With its rarity, originality, and ties to a significant chapter in Chevrolet performance history, it is likely to draw strong interest when it hits the auction block.
