The 911 Targa arrived in the early G-series era as Porsche's answer to open-air motoring without a full convertible top. A removable roof panel paired with a brushed stainless roll bar gave drivers a taste of wind-in-the-hair driving while still satisfying the rollover concerns regulators were raising at the time. For 1977, the 911S sat at the top of the standard lineup, running a 2.7-liter air-cooled flat-six fed by Bosch CIS fuel injection and paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

This particular example, now listed on Hagerty Marketplace, comes with a story that's increasingly rare in the collector world: one owner for roughly 26 years. Finished in red over a black interior with reupholstered seats, the car rides on period-correct 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller says it's been serviced annually at Jones Werks, a Porsche specialist shop in San Antonio, with recent work including a new starter, brakes, and gear shift guide. Notably, this car also has factory air conditioning, which the seller confirms still works, a rare and desirable option in the 911S's first year of A/C availability.

Cosmetically, the car shows its age honestly. The listing notes paint flaking in multiple spots, a cracked right-side taillight, and trunk and hood struts that need replacing, along with general wear on interior surfaces. It's being sold with a clean Texas title in the seller's name, and photos throughout the listing document its current condition in detail. With just under 38,000 miles reported (mileage unable to be verified), this Targa presents as an honest, long-term-ownership example rather than a restored showpiece.

Bidding is live now, with the auction closing on Tuesday, July 21. View the full listing and place a bid here.
