The 25-year import rule keeps delivering interesting cars, and this 1998 Toyota Caldina 2.0E 4WD, which sold for $7,700 on Cars & Bids, is a good example.
The second-generation Caldina debuted in Japan in 1997 and was sold only as a station wagon there. Toyota never offered it in the United States. This one is a right-hand-drive Japanese-market car finished in Alpine Silver Metallic with a gray interior, titled in Montana and located in California.
The odometer reads in kilometers and shows about 120,200, or roughly 74,700 miles. The listing notes 14-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, automatic climate control and power windows, locks and mirrors. The seller reports no modifications.
Cars like this are a growing niche because they are unusual, practical and inexpensive, though parts and service for a car that was never sold here can take more effort than for a domestic wagon.
Importing or buying an import comes with its own paperwork wrinkles, so look through our title and paperwork checklist before you commit.
