The 1959 DeVille saw the most extreme design to date with large tail fins and a rear that resembled jet engine afterburners, not surprising as the styling was inspired by P-38s.

The 1959 DeVille saw the most extreme design to date with large tail fins and a rear that resembled jet engine afterburners, not surprising as the styling was inspired by P-38s. This extreme styling was met with a "love it or leave" attitude by the public and critics.

The extravagant styling worked as production was up yet again.

The engine was bored to 390ci and power was increased to 325 hp. The rear ends even got an upgrade, mainly to quiet them.

The Sedan DeVille was offered with the option of two different rooflines. One that was straight and came to a point, the other was more traditional and featured a smooth, wraparound decline.
