Wild Custom 1962 Ford Falcon

Custom builds have become a growing force at collector car auctions, often standing shoulder to shoulder with the best restorations. One of the latest examples—a heavily modified 1962 Ford Falcon—is set to make waves when it crosses the block at Mecum’s 2026 Kissimmee auction in January.

This isn’t your typical early Falcon. The car underwent an extensive transformation completed in 2023 and has logged only about 2,500 miles since. Every inch has been reimagined, starting with a three-inch chopped roof and a lengthened, front-hinged hood that stretches four inches beyond factory dimensions. Suicide doors with shaved handles and electronic poppers give it a custom flair, while molded fascias, a Phantom-style grille, and custom taillights enhance its sleek, modern profile. The Copper and Cream two-tone paint completes the visual impact, complemented by Halibrand-style wheels that hint at its performance roots.

The interior carries the same bespoke craftsmanship, blending Copper and Cream leather upholstery across custom seats, door panels, and a tailored center console. The cabin also features Vintage Air climate control, AutoMeter gauges, and a DP Video multimedia system, giving this 1960s shell a thoroughly modern touch.

Under the hood lies the centerpiece—a 427 cubic-inch “Man O’ War” V8 from World Industries, paired with a Holley Sniper EFI setup and custom headers. The power flows through a C6 three-speed automatic transmission with a stall converter, into a narrowed 9-inch rear end running 4.11 gears. Beneath it all sits a tube chassis featuring a Mustang II-style front suspension, a four-link rear setup, and four-wheel disc brakes for modern handling and control.

With its craftsmanship, performance hardware, and bold styling, this 1962 Falcon represents the best of old-school design meeting new-age engineering. The only question is how high the bidding will climb when it hits the block in Florida.
