A custom-built 1970 Ford Mustang SportsRoof known as “Hell Pony” is drawing strong interest as its auction approaches the final days, with bidding currently at $53,000. The car represents a modern reinterpretation of the classic Mustang fastback, combining contemporary powertrain technology with extensive chassis, suspension, and interior upgrades.
At the center of the build is a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 fitted with a Whipple supercharger. The engine features blue-finished components and custom branding, supported by fabricated inner fenders, billet hood hinges, and an aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan. Power is delivered through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission to a Ford 9-inch rear axle equipped with a limited-slip differential.

The Mustang’s exterior was extensively reworked during the build. Finished in metallic blue with silver accents, the body features shaved doors and decklid, a hood scoop, silver-painted rear window louvers, and color-matched bumpers and front spoiler. Silver hockey-stick stripes and painted taillight bezels further distinguish the car. Paint blemishes are noted in the listing gallery.

Underneath, the chassis has been comprehensively modernized. The front suspension utilizes a Mustang II-style setup with tubular control arms, rack-and-pinion power steering, and a sway bar. Out back, a Total Cost Involved torque-arm system integrates subframe connectors, reinforcement plates, adjustable links, and a rear sway bar. Ridetech adjustable coilovers are fitted at all four corners. Braking is handled by Wilwood drilled and slotted disc brakes with six-piston calipers up front. Signature-Wheel alloy wheels are wrapped in staggered Nitto Invo tires.

The interior blends performance and comfort with bolstered front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black leather and gray microfiber inserts, embroidered with the Hell Pony name. Schroth harnesses are fitted, and a custom-fabricated center console houses cupholders and power window controls. Additional equipment includes a Vintage Air climate control system with a Dakota Digital control panel.

Instrumentation consists of AutoMeter Cobalt gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer and matching auxiliary gauges, positioned behind a MOMO steering wheel on a tilting aftermarket column. Audio is handled by an Alpine touchscreen stereo connected to Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and Kicker subwoofers mounted behind the folding rear seat. The digital odometer shows 8,800 miles, with approximately 300 added since the previous auction appearance.
