Spyker Plans Pebble Beach Return With New 800-HP Supercar Reveal

Spyker Cars is preparing to reenter the spotlight with the debut of a new supercar, marking a significant moment for the Dutch boutique automaker after years of instability. The company plans to unveil the latest generation of its C8 Preliator on August 14 during the Pebble Beach automotive events, according to information shared by CEO Victor Muller.

1959 Cadillac

The upcoming reveal signals a renewed chapter for Spyker, which has experienced multiple financial setbacks over the past decade. Despite those challenges, the brand is moving forward with a new model that continues its tradition of handcrafted vehicles. The car currently under development, identified as chassis number 270, is being assembled by hand at the company’s facility, maintaining the artisanal approach that has defined Spyker’s production philosophy.

While full specifications have not yet been disclosed, early details point to a high-performance configuration. The new model is expected to build on the legacy of the C8 Preliator introduced roughly ten years ago. That earlier version featured a front-mounted 4.2-liter V8 engine. The upcoming iteration is set to retain a V8 layout but will incorporate twin turbochargers, significantly increasing output.

Performance estimates suggest the new supercar could produce around 800 horsepower, placing it firmly in the upper tier of modern performance vehicles. With that level of power, the car is anticipated to achieve a top speed exceeding 200 miles per hour, signaling Spyker’s intention to compete with established names in the supercar segment.

Spyker’s return follows a turbulent history. Since its revival in 1999 by Muller and Maarten de Bruijn, the company has faced repeated financial difficulties, including bankruptcies in 2014 and again in 2021. A resolution reached last year between Muller and the insolvency trustee restored control of the company, paving the way for its latest effort to reestablish itself.

The Pebble Beach debut is expected to serve as a defining moment, as Spyker attempts to reaffirm its presence in the high-performance automotive market.
