Shelby American has revealed the 2026 Shelby Super Snake, expanding its high-performance Mustang lineup with a model that emphasizes straight-line power and visual drama at a lower entry price. Starting at $175,885, the new Super Snake undercuts the more extreme Super Snake R while retaining much of its aggressive design and offering serious performance potential.

Based on the Ford Mustang GT, the 2026 Super Snake can be ordered with or without forced induction. In naturally aspirated form, it retains the standard Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 output of 480 horsepower. Buyers seeking maximum performance can opt for a Whipple supercharger, installed through a post-title process, which boosts output to 830 horsepower on readily available 93-octane fuel. That figure places the Super Snake among the most powerful street-focused Mustangs available, even when compared to far more expensive alternatives.
While it forgoes the “R” designation and its higher price tag, the Super Snake shares much of the visual and aerodynamic presence of its track-oriented sibling. Exterior upgrades include a widebody conversion featuring carbon fiber fenders, along with additional aerodynamic components such as a lower diffuser, splitter wickers, and functional vents. Carbon fiber inserts are also integrated into the aluminum hood and front fenders to aid airflow and cooling.
Shelby has also addressed thermal management and durability. The Super Snake is fitted with an upgraded cooling system that includes a Shelby-specific radiator and heat exchanger. Suspension components and brake rotors are enhanced over the standard Mustang GT, and the car rides on lightweight 20-inch forged magnesium wheels designed to reduce unsprung mass.
Transmission options mirror those available on the Mustang GT, giving buyers a choice between a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic. Both coupe and convertible body styles are offered, expanding the car’s appeal beyond purely performance-focused buyers.

Inside and out, Shelby branding is prominently displayed. Badging and Super Snake identifiers appear throughout the cabin, including on the seats, door sill plates, puddle lamps, and shift knob on manual-equipped cars. Each vehicle also receives serialized dash and engine plaques, and all examples are recorded in the official Shelby Registry. Production is limited to 300 units for the 2026 model year.
While it sacrifices a small amount of peak output compared to the Super Snake R, the 2026 Shelby Super Snake delivers a substantial price reduction and remains one of the most powerful Mustangs Shelby has ever offered. For buyers prioritizing horsepower and presence over lap times, it represents a compelling middle ground in Shelby’s modern lineup.
