Shelby American is bringing one of its most recognizable performance names back to center stage with the return of the Super Snake for the 2026 model year. The revived model reflects the brand’s long-standing approach to high-performance Mustangs, pairing aggressive output with visual drama and a level of exclusivity designed to appeal to serious enthusiasts.
The 2026 Super Snake is built around Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Buyers can choose a naturally aspirated version that matches the standard Mustang GT’s 480 horsepower, but the defining configuration is the optional supercharged model. Equipped with a Whipple supercharger, the Super Snake delivers 830 horsepower while running on standard pump gasoline, avoiding the need for specialized fuel despite its extreme output.

That power figure places the Super Snake above Ford’s own Mustang GTD in terms of output, while remaining far more attainable in price. Shelby’s approach emphasizes delivering headline performance without pushing the car into unreachable territory for most buyers.
Mechanical upgrades extend well beyond the engine bay. The Super Snake receives additional cooling hardware, including an extra radiator and heat exchanger, to handle the increased demands of the supercharged setup. A Borla exhaust system improves airflow and adds a more aggressive tone. Larger brake rotors and performance-focused tires enhance stopping capability, even though the factory calipers remain in place.
Visually, the Super Snake closely aligns with the more track-focused Super Snake R. It features a lightweight hood, widened bodywork with carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic fender flares, and magnesium wheels aimed at reducing unsprung weight. Suspension tuning has been revised to manage the added power and aerodynamic load generated by the prominent rear spoiler.
Pricing for the 2026 Super Snake starts at $175,885. Shelby American plans to limit production to 300 units for the U.S. market, reinforcing the model’s collectible status. Each car will be documented and recorded in Shelby’s official registry.
Buyers can select either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission, along with coupe or convertible body styles. Interior and exterior details, including serialized plaques and extensive Shelby branding, complete the package. With the Super Snake’s return, Shelby American is reaffirming its focus on extreme performance rooted in Mustang tradition.
