Swedish EV maker Polestar debuts its flagship four-door performance GT, combining cutting-edge engineering, luxury, and eco-conscious materials.
Polestar officially unveiled its new flagship, the Polestar 5, a four-door electric Grand Tourer that blends performance, sustainability, and Scandinavian design. The production model evolves directly from the Precept concept first shown in 2020, marking a milestone for the Swedish automaker.
The Polestar 5 arrives in two versions: the Dual Motor, priced from €119,900, and the Performance model, starting at €142,900. Both employ a bespoke bonded aluminum platform and an in-house developed motor paired with an 800-volt architecture. The result is up to 650 kW (871 hp) and 1,015 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in as little as 3.2 seconds. Range is estimated up to 670 km on the WLTP cycle.
Designers carried over much of the Precept’s styling, producing a five-meter-long GT with a low nose, Kamm-tail profile, and a record-size panoramic glass roof. Aerodynamics yield a drag coefficient of 0.24, aided by details like flush glass, frameless doors, and an aero-efficient rear diffuser.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes both performance and sustainability. Four Recaro-designed seats, with an optional fifth, combine Swedish comfort with racing-inspired bolstering. Materials include natural flax fiber composites, recycled PET, and responsibly sourced Nappa leather. A 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen running Android Automotive OS anchors the digital experience, paired with a Bowers & Wilkins 21-speaker audio system.
Safety and driver assistance technology are extensive, with 11 cameras, radar, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and Polestar’s latest Pilot Assist system. Charging at up to 350 kW allows a 10–80% top-up in just 22 minutes.
“Polestar 5 is bringing the future to our present,” said CEO Michael Lohscheller. “It represents our vision for design, technology, and sustainability — now ready for customers.”
