One-Off Carbon Build Transforms Classic 1969 Daytona Into Modern Muscle Machine

A one-of-a-kind custom vehicle is redefining the boundaries between classic muscle car heritage and modern performance engineering. EXOMOD’s latest project, known as the D69 Carbon “B5 Velocity,” reimagines the iconic 1969 Daytona by pairing its unmistakable design cues with the advanced platform of a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Rather than creating a simple tribute, the build represents a complete transformation. The vehicle begins as a “Last Call” Hellcat Challenger, bringing with it a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 producing 717 horsepower. Power is delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission, maintaining the performance credentials expected from a modern American muscle car.

From there, the original body is removed and replaced with a fully custom carbon-fiber shell. The handcrafted exterior echoes the defining characteristics of the historic Daytona, including its elongated front end, wide stance, and signature rear wing. Each panel is individually constructed, with the entire process requiring more than 1,800 hours to complete.

The lightweight carbon-fiber construction is finished in a deep B5 Blue Pearl, a nod to Mopar heritage. Exposed carbon fiber is also used throughout key aerodynamic components such as the front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, hood scoop, and rear wing, blending performance function with visual impact.

While the exterior draws heavily from the past, the vehicle’s mechanical foundation remains thoroughly modern. It retains advanced driving systems including launch control, adaptive suspension, and traction management. Safety features such as airbags and anti-lock braking are integrated into the design.

Braking performance is handled by a high-performance system with six-piston calipers and large slotted rotors, ensuring the car’s stopping power matches its aggressive output. The vehicle rides on forged wheels with staggered sizing, paired with high-performance tires designed to maximize grip and stability.

Inside, the cabin combines luxury and technology with custom two-tone leather upholstery. Modern features such as navigation, infotainment, and driver-assist systems are seamlessly incorporated, preserving everyday usability alongside its performance focus.

Attention to detail extends throughout the build, including a fully reworked engine bay featuring carbon-fiber accents and a uniquely finished supercharger. Exterior elements such as trim pieces and fuel cap design further refine the presentation.

The result is a modern reinterpretation of one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever produced, blending historical inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship and engineering.
