Lia Block Takes the Wheel of Ken Block’s Iconic Ford F-150 Hoonitruck at Willow Springs

Lia Block reached another milestone in her racing journey by driving her late father’s legendary Ford F-150 Hoonitruck during a public appearance at Willow Springs Raceway in California. The drive marked the first time Block has taken control of one of the most recognizable vehicles associated with Ken Block’s Gymkhana legacy.

The Hoonitruck, a heavily modified 1977 Ford F-150 built for Ken Block’s viral Gymkhana videos, became an icon through its aggressive style and performance. After Ken Block’s death, the truck changed ownership. Although Lia Block attempted to buy it back, the deal did not materialize. Despite that, the current owner has continued to allow the Block family access to the truck, making this moment possible.

Block’s opportunity to drive the Hoonitruck came shortly after her victory in Singapore in the F1 Academy series. In late October, following her return from overseas competition, she arrived at Willow Springs to begin getting familiar with the unique pickup. Initial sessions focused on learning the truck’s behavior, which required adjustment given its bespoke setup and history as one of Ken Block’s most extreme creations.

After a full day of testing, the crew worked to fine-tune the truck specifically for Lia Block. Once the setup was complete, the Hoonitruck was prepared for a public demonstration. Wearing full safety gear, Block took to the track in front of a crowd, accelerating down the straights, navigating the corners, and performing donuts that echoed the style her father made famous.

The run highlighted both the emotional and technical significance of the moment. For Lia Block, the drive represented more than a performance exercise. It was a chance to experience firsthand a machine closely tied to her father’s career and to see it brought back to life on track.

Milton Verret, the current owner of the Hoonitruck, played a key role in making the Willow Springs appearance possible. His cooperation allowed the truck to return to public view and provided Lia Block with the opportunity to create new memories in one of Ken Block’s most celebrated vehicles.
