Koenigsegg has added another milestone to its list of record-breaking achievements. The Swedish automaker’s $5.2 million Sadair’s Spear has officially become the fastest production car ever to lap the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Known for pushing performance boundaries, Koenigsegg’s latest creation combines extreme engineering with road-legal accessibility, proving that its pursuit of speed still knows no limits.
Built on the Jesko platform, the Sadair’s Spear was designed for track dominance. Every component has been refined for aerodynamic efficiency and reduced weight. Larger bonnet vents, wider louvres above the front wheels, and a massive active twin-blade rear wing contribute to immense downforce, while the Jesko Absolut’s streamlined rear bodywork ensures minimal drag. Despite its aggressive nature, the car remains street-legal—though its true potential is unlocked on the circuit.
Under the hood, Koenigsegg’s 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 delivers staggering power: 1,300 horsepower on standard 95-octane fuel and up to 1,625 horsepower when running on E85. Mated to the company’s lightning-fast Light Speed Transmission, capable of gear changes in just 0.2 seconds, the engine revs freely to 8,500 rpm.
During a recent test, driver Markus Lundh recorded a lap time of 1 minute, 24.16 seconds around Laguna Seca’s 3.6-kilometer course. The performance edged out the previous record set by the Czinger 21C, which clocked in at 1 minute, 24.75 seconds. Impressively, the Koenigsegg team achieved this feat during a noise-restricted track day, adding a temporary muffler to meet the 90-decibel limit.
With only 30 examples built and all already spoken for, the Sadair’s Spear stands as a rare and defining statement in the world of hypercar engineering—one that blends artistry, technology, and raw speed into a new benchmark.
